EMAIL MARKETING

Email Marketing for Winnipeg & Canadian Brands

Email is still one of the highest-performing marketing channels, but only when it’s done with intention. Good emails aren’t loud, annoying or “salesy for the sake of salesy.” They’re clear, well-designed, helpful and built on a strategy that respects your audience’s time. I help Winnipeg and Canadian brands plan, design and send emails that build trust, nurture customers and create repeat business.

Why email marketing matters

Social reach comes and goes. Ads fluctuate. Algorithms shift overnight. But your email list? That’s yours. A strong list paired with well-crafted messages creates consistent revenue and long-term customer relationships.

What I offer

I combine design, copy, layout, technical setup and ongoing strategy—so you’re not juggling five different freelancers for one channel. You get polished emails that match your brand, read well on all devices and move people toward action without feeling pushy.

  • Email strategy planning (content, cadence, segmentation)
  • Flow automation setup (welcome series, post-purchase, winbacks, etc.)
  • Campaign design + development (HTML or no-code builders)
  • Copywriting with a clear, approachable brand voice
  • List cleanup and segmentation improvements
  • I specialize in Klaviyo, but I also work comfortably in Sendlane, Hive.co, Drip, Omnisend, Kit, and pretty much every other email platform.
  • Template design so your team can send future emails easily
  • Deliverability best practices and basic analytics review

Email flows & automations

Automated emails are your behind-the-scenes workhorses. Once set up, they introduce your brand, guide new subscribers, recover sales and keep customers engaged. I design and build flows that feel natural—not robotic.

Campaigns that don’t feel like campaigns

Send emails people actually want to open. Educational content, soft-sell offers, seasonal pushes or brand storytelling— all designed with clean layout, good spacing, and clear calls to action.

Who this is for

Small businesses, makers, service providers and ecommerce brands in Winnipeg and across Canada who want to build a reliable email foundation—or improve the one they already have. Perfect for Shopify stores looking to increase repeat purchases without depending solely on paid ads.

Why work with Rocket Science Designs?

Because you get someone who understands the full picture: design, messaging, segmentation, integrations and real-world marketing strategy. Emails look good, sound good and behave properly across devices. You’ll get a system you can maintain confidently—not a mess of templates you never want to touch again.

FAQ

Common Questions

Is email marketing still worth it for a small business?

Yes — and arguably more than ever. Social platforms change their algorithms and your reach with them. Your email list is an asset you own outright. People who signed up to hear from you actually want to hear from you, which is a different relationship than a social follower scrolling past your post. For small businesses with limited marketing budgets, it remains one of the highest-ROI channels available.

How often should I be emailing my list?

For most small businesses, once or twice a month is a solid starting point — enough to stay visible without wearing out your welcome. The bigger mistake is usually emailing too rarely, not too often. If someone hasn’t heard from you in six months, they’ve forgotten who you are. Consistency matters more than frequency.

What should I actually write about?

More than coupons. The emails people open are the ones that give them something — a useful tip, a story, an early heads up, a behind-the-scenes look. Promotional content works when it’s earned by the value around it. A good mix is roughly 80% useful or interesting, 20% ask.

What platform should I use?

Depends on what you’re selling and how sophisticated your flows need to be. Klaviyo is the strongest option for ecommerce and Shopify stores. Mailchimp works fine for simpler service businesses. I’ll recommend what actually fits your situation rather than defaulting to whatever’s easiest for me to set up.

Do I need to worry about CASL compliance in Canada?

Yes. Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation requires explicit consent before sending commercial email — you can’t just add people to your list without permission. It’s stricter than US CAN-SPAM rules. Getting this right from the start is important; retrofitting a non-compliant list later is painful. I build CASL-compliant opt-in flows as a standard part of any email setup.

My list is small. Is it even worth starting?

A small engaged list outperforms a large disengaged one every time. Starting with 200 people who actually want to hear from you is more valuable than waiting until you have 2,000. List-building is an ongoing process — the earlier you start, the more compound value it accumulates.
